Its a long drive to Medewi but if its pumping is worth the trip. It's considered one of the longest left waves in Bali and should be tackled by surfers with intermediate experience. UP2U surf guides know a few other secret little surf breaks in the area as well.

Canggu

Surfers have a choice at Canqqu with a variety of waves. Echo's is a nice Ionq left which work better on the low tide up the beach is XXXX which produces some juicy left's and rights and if you travel a little further west is XXX again this wave breaks left and right but the right is a better quality wave all are good Intermediate to advanced waves but Canggu can get crowded. Surfers also can drive a little further down JL XXXX and surf Togu's a long intermediate left which tends to work better on the low incoming tide. Be aware Canggu can get big and can pack a punch.

Legian Seminyak

One thing to remember with the beaches along this stretch of coast is that there are a few strong rips that have been known to drag novice surfers out to sea so don't panic just relax and paddle 90° to the rip and you will ok. These beaches are a testing ground for less experienced surfers who are getting ready for more challenging waves.

Kuta Beach

Mid tide is the best time to hit Kuta try to avoid the low tide waves usually dose out and could cause injuries also it gets really crowded. The good thing about Kuta is that it's a very long beach and if you take a walk you can normally find a wave with less people.

Kuta Reef

Airport rights is best at mid to high tide at 6-8 ft. Airport lefts at 4 - 6ft. Lefts can get very crowded on small swells.

Balangan

Produces some good long lefts at mid tide but needs a good swell to work. Lower tide can generate fast and hollow waves but unfortunately the break is affected by wind and can get very messy best to surf it early mornings before the strong afternoon winds affect it.

Dreamland

The left hander is definitely the better wave but the there is a short fast right as well. Ideal time to surf it is on a dead low tide when the swell is around three foot but when the bigger with swells over 7ft the break tends to close out. Dreamland is a very beautiful beach and emits a great vibe it's an awesome beach there are restaurants and is a favorite hangout place for many tourists and locals definitely a 'must see' beach.

Bingin

Mid to low tide usually produce hollow and fast waves surfers can enjoy short left hand barrels. But be warned at dead low tide the shallow reef can be very unforgiving, the downside to Bingin is that it gets very crowded and there is only one take off point, Can get a little frustrating at times.

Impossibles

Surfers have the choice to catch a wave here on all tides. When swell is bigger Impossibles produces a long fast hollow wave but it can pack a real punch smaller swells produce a 'impossible' section hence the name. UP2U's advice is that only very experienced surfer take on this break

Padang-Padang

This is a awesome wave and is considered to be one of the best barrels in Bali when it's going off! Mid to high offers experienced surfers super fast and tones of power but watch out for the inside section. Reef is shallow and very sharp but can hold up to 12+ gets crowded on smaller days.

Uluwatu

There not too many places like Uluwatu it's an all round wave. Works pretty much on every tide can handle small swells and is best when it's huge. When small beginners can have a allot of fun but when big it's best left to the experienced surfers because its like being hit by a train very powerful. When its big many people like to go to Ulu's just to watch and have a coffee there are plenty of restaurants, surf shops and stores selling clothes it is really the jewel of Bali when it comes to surfing.

Nusa Dua

To get to the surf you need hire a local boat but looks can be deceiving what looks small from the beach can be the completely opposite when you get out to the reef. Beware also of the strong currents the waves has allot of power and can pack a real punch with sets appearing form nowhere so keep your wits about you. Nusa Dua produces consistent long rides with solid walls. Best at mid to high tide during the wet season. Surfers can enjoy three different peaks Top Peak, Middles and End section the three peaks help spread the crowd out and UP2U's advice is that experienced surfers hit this wave. Nusa Dua is definitely not for the faint hearted surfer!

Hyatt Reef

One thing to remember with this break try not to surf it on the outgoing tide due to strong currents. The outside break can be inconsistent and a little nasty but the inside peak is definitely more consistent and works best at mid tide with a 3-4 foot swell. Make sure you have strong arms the current makes it hard work to keep in the take off zone.

Tanjung

Break generates left and a right hander wave but look out for the reef it can get really shallow. Best swell is 3-4ft anything bigger tends to close out and is a mid to high tide wave.

Serangan

Serangan or Turtle Island is a definite 'must surf' on any surfers travel itinerary. Usually the break works better in the wet season on a mid to high tide but does get crowded so surfers can paddle over to Left Side Peak it's less crowded and has a left and a right-hander, also at mid to high tide the waves are a little fatter good for beginners with some experience.

Sanur

Sanur is normally a wet season wave in Bali. The break works on mid to high tide but Sanur needs a good size swell to be hitting Bali for it to work properly but when it's on surfers van get a nice fun day's surf from her but watchout for the inside reef

Padang Galak

The good thing about this beach break is that there are many peaks to choose from. The water appears dirty at times due to the out flow from the river mouth and can get crowded but is a great beach to surf with left & right hander's ready for the taking.

This is an awesome wave! Best tide to surf is mid to low Keramas offers surfers an awesome right hander with plenty of speed and a tonne of power but watch out for the end section it gets really shallow. There are allot of sharp rocks and the reef is home to many sea urchins. UP2U's advice is that experienced surfers take on this baby!

Padang Bay
